Student Support

At Newcastle College Business Academy we offer a range of support from initial advice and guidance to place you on the right programme through to support for your learning needs and requirements.

At Newcastle College Business Academy we don't believe in anonymous webinars and online learning platforms. Instead, we favour plenty of individual attention and one-to-one support to help you grow and flourish during your time with us​.


Course Support

As a student on the course you will have a range of different support mechanisms available. For each module you study you will have access to the following:

  • Course Site Content including interactive lessons, videos, podcasts all utilising the latest online learning technology
  • ​Live Chat, Webinars and Discussion Board Forums
  • Access to a dedicated Curriculum Leader who is responsible for the management and supervision of your course
  • Access to Specialist Tutor Support if required. We offer one-to-one tutorials and support from a subject matter expert

Administration Support

Our Curriculum Admin Support Team is responsible for supporting you with any functions or day-to day queries relating to your programme. This may include:

  • Resetting your password
  • Checking on the progress or status of the funding of your course, (e.g. student loan, employer sponsorship, etc.)
  • Logging helpdesk calls
  • Confirming your results and organising your certificates

Progression Support

We hope completing this qualification will allow you to develop both professionally and academically. Our qualifications does provide you with progression routes and options that could mean you joining either a higher level qualification or choosing a different academic route (e.g. moving to a degree or professional programme)


Learning Support

The Learning Support at Newcastle College provides support, advice and guidance for students with a wide range of learning needs. We are here to help students across the college who have a range of additional support needs. We support students in a number of ways and are committed to providing inclusive education in a safe and positive environment. Our service has a growing reputation and we're delighted to work with key organisations such as North East Autism Society and Action on Hearing Loss.


Student Support 

At present there are six support teams within the Learning Support dedicated to assisting students across the college. Each team can provide tailored support to our students which may include:

  • Guidance on your choice of course, advice on what opportunities are available and we can help you with enrolment.
  • A Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to help you inside or outside the classroom, or support you with things like research,a ssignments or private study.
  • Group support in the classroom.
  • Discrete support in the classroom.
  • Note-takers or readers.
  • Mentoring sessions.
  • Special Examination Considerations such as extra time, readers, scribe or a separate room.
  • Technical support from Central Support staff and the loan of technical equipment.
  • An Assistive Technology Suite brimming with modern accessibility technology.
  • Access to specialist support.​
